Years ago I had never heard of Reiki. Life, however, has a way of offering you exactly what you need when the time is right.

At the lowest, most desolate point in my life all I could think was “Why?”, “Why me?” One day whilst standing in a high energy spot in nature, the answer came as a voice told me: “because dear soul, this is not you”. Stunned at the simplicity of this beautiful wisdom I became a seeker, a seeker of truth, a seeker of my true essence of being.

Shortly afterwards, I chanced upon an article on energy work. A single word stood out like a beacon of light: Reiki. The word alone had a profound effect on me, touching my soul and resonating within me like a 'call home' and I followed without hesitation.

Reiki is the Life Force energy that flows through everything and everything is made of. When it is out of balance, too low, dense or traumatised, for example, over time this manifests itself physically as illness. The hands of a Reiki practitioner function as a channel for this healing energy to flow into the recipient. It balances, removes blockages, boosts and supports the body’s own healing system.

As a Reiki Master and Teacher, I am grateful for everything life has given me. Words cannot describe the joy when I see others overcome diseases, regain their health, happiness, hope, sometimes their life and sometimes the peace of calm acceptance to let go. I am only the vehicle for Reiki, but what a great thing to be.

Hi, I am Yvette Huberts, 59 years old, and married to Jacques. Together we have 2 daughters and 2 grandsons. We live in the south of The Netherlands, in the province of Limburg.

Already more than 20 years ago I started a 3-year course to become a foot reflexologist. Ever since then I have often been amazed at what reflexology can do for people. About 10 years ago I also started studying Chinese reflexology and my treatments now are a mix of both the Chinese as well as the European/American approach.

Foot reflexology is based on the conviction that certain points on our feet, the so-called reflex zones, correspond with other parts of the body. Often complaints are due to blockages in one or more of our ten meridians (‘energy highways’). These blockages disappear as a result of massage of the corresponding reflex zone so that the body can find its balance back.
